Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a group going under the aegis of Imo Integrity Group (IIG) has zeroed in on the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Associated Bus Company, ABC, Mr. Frank Nneji, to take the mantle of leadership of the state next year.
According to a press release signed by the leader of the group, Prince Vincon Uwakwe Uwandu which was also made available to Nigeria Newspoint, IIG hinged their choice of Nneji on the fact that the ABC Transport boss comes from Owerri Zone which zone it said, deserves the governorship seat of Imo State in 2019.
Continuing, Integrity Group expressed satisfaction at the manner it said Mr. Nneji has managed his transport business with over 3,000 workers on his payroll.
According to IIG: “He is not clannish, Nneji believes and encourages excellence in all dealings with public. These are the qualities, that perhaps made the Federal Government of Nigeria to honour him with the Award of Officer of the Order of Niger (OON).
“Frank Nneji has lived in Imo State over two decades after his graduation at University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, and more conversant with the challenges facing Imo State and their solutions. And it was for these qualities that some well meaning people prevailed on him to join the race to salvage Imo State”.
Integrity Group also expressed strong belief in the ability of Nneji to revive ailing and moribund state-owned enterprises like AdaPalm Ohaji, Imo Modern Poultry, Avutu, Imo Newspapers among others.
The group, while dismissing the rumour that Nneji was being sponsored by the incumbent governor, urged the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to think Nneji as it works towards 2019 governorship.
